The district reported 44 active coronavirus cases among staff and six among students, according to the districts online dashboard as of Friday afternoon.

Only Covid cases in China came Right off the Bat.
I'm unaware of any staff employees that are members of the football or volleyball teams.
Cases, cases, cases - totally irrelevant.
Only two data points matter, and they are the same only two data points that matter with the flu, and they are not “cases”.
The 1st serious data point is hospitalizations - can our hospitals handle the “cases” that reach them and that is ONLY “cases” that need to reach them. Hospitalizations, not “cases”.
The 2nd serious data point is fatalities - again, not cases.
And on that last point, the CDC posted fatality rates - from hospital data across the country on Covid-19 admitted patients - is less than 1% (less than 1% of those that need hospitalization), in all age groups involved in education, with the lowest fatality rate in kids 0-19 years.
The media and the state authorities keeping everyone focused on “Cases” is a diversion from the much more important data, and far less troubling data, of hospitalizations and fatalities.
It is keeping everyone focused on the hole, not the donut.
Eighty to 90% of “cases” never make it to the hospital, because they don’t need to, and of that 10 to 20% that do, less than 1% are fatal.
It may not be time to take masks off universally, but it is time to open everything up and quit worrying about Covid-19. It is being handled and at current fatality rates there is no excuse to continue pandemic fear over “cases”.
And further, on that note of “cases”.
For the 1st time in history of epidemiology the term “case” no longer means what it always meant before.
Before, a case was only someone who (a) tested positive for a virus AND (b) was admitted to the hospital with symptoms. Asymptomatic persons and persons able to get rid of a virus on their own were not counted as “cases”.
You are the winner the internets! Well played, my friend.
It's totally relevant because of the sensitive populations involved. As I stated, there are MANY FWISD employees over the age of 60. And, to have this many in just a week is alarming. This is more than twice as many cases as is reported in my entire county.
My daughter’s school has been back F2F since August 20. They have put in place face-mask wearing, social distancing practices. Since then they have only had 2 reported cases school wide. I’m praying it stays like that.
How SICK are all these people, if AT ALL?
THIS is what we need to know!
We KNOW the tests are FLAWED, showing positive even though the person may not even get sick or even be able to infect others.
JUST HOW SICK ARE THEY? Sniffles? Headache? Cough? Fever? All of the above or NONE of the above?
Likelihood of survival 99.9% ?
WE NEED TO GET TO THE HERD! Some WILL DIE. Most of those (paraphrasing Arianna Huffington) “but they were going there anyway”. So the rest of us can get back to our lives.
Masks, social distancing, lockdowns, removing our freedoms, destroying our economy, increases in suicides/depression, child/spousal abuse, increase risks of deaths from untreated/non-essential illnesses, loss of savings, permanent losses of jobs, lack of education of our children, bankruptcies, incurment of debt, and over TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND Americans STILL DIED!
Is THIS what SUCCESS looks like?
It REALLY worked didn’t it? /s
Was it WORTH IT ALL? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some things are inevitable. Like climate change. THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT, NOTHING!
Hu-mans are not causing it, and it is beyond Hu-man capacity to affect it. (That’s why we can’t “cause” it).
So, open the country/schools back up. Reopen businesses, get back to normal. NOT a NEW normal, but the OLD normal.
If you get sick, you get sick. Just like the flu or the common cold. Some people die, the rest recover and are better off (immune wise) because of it.
Our Central Texas school hasn’t updated their cases since the initial report back in Aug. so it’s anyone’s guess. Overall county numbers were decreasing but they’ve doubled since Labor Day. Thankfully, tourist season is nearly over so that will greatly help the numbers brought in from outsiders.
One TX city (pop. 18k) only had 6 or 9 kindergarten kids registered on the first day of school. They immediately had to quarantine the class when one student came to school so sick she had to be laid on the floor.
You left out morbidities.
Where I am all the union/public school teachers are hunkered down at home. Their students (and parents) are struggling. The private and parochial schools are all open with no problems.
The public school kids will be more than a year behind the private school kids.
Crazy. Not the case in Allen, TX. Not sure why so many ISDs are having such issues.

B.S.
How many have to go to the hospital? How many are so severe they are in critical condition??
If 40 teachers went home with the flu would they close the school, or get 40 substitutes??
If a teacher is 60+ with any comorbidity factor they should be on leave until there is a vaccine.
All the kids will be fine.
It is way past time for us to give a damn about “cases”. Everyone is going to eventually exposed to this. Anyone who wants to can hide under their bed. Let the rest of us go about our lives in peace.
Do the diagnostic procedures have any oversight?
So out of 11,000 staff members, 44 came back with COVID (another 73 were exposed to those 44). And out of 88,000 students, only 6 came back with COVID, and all of those might actually have been caught at sports practices, maybe from one of the staff.
Sounds like students are doing a better job of keeping COVID free than the staff is.
When kids are off during the summer months their standardized achievement tests scores go down. It takes a while for the kids to get back up to speed in the fall.
Millions of kids have been out of school since March! They are already more than a grade level behind. They will be pushed ahead each year and many will be illiterate and innumerate when they graduate.
Home school!
We also know that there were NOT 200,000 deaths due to the virus.
The numbers have been inflated for political and economic benefit.
And let's not forget the CCCP's role.
According to a virologist who escaped from Hong Kong, Dr Li Meng Yan, this was a biological attack by the Communist Chinese military.
Let's just say, for the sake of arguement, that the release of the virus was accidental or naturally occuring.
The Chicom behavior of quarantining Wuhan from the rest of China while allowing international travel deliberately spread the virus here and all over the world.
