And the raise will always be paid by the consumers. Which in fast-food joints (where the poorer people frequent for food) means elevated prices for product.

Exactly!! Minimum wage sets the baseline for every employee. When it goes up, everyone else’s salary goes up too. Then prices of goods and services go up.
And the “minimum wage” earner is back where they started.
