"Isn’t there some rule about having to vote in person? "

Perhaps. I'm no expert on these things, but I do know the GOP still controls the Senate. I'm sure they can rewrite the rules as needed. Besides, if we all are told we can vote by mail, the Senate should be allowed to as well.

In any case, it is vital that ACB be confirmed before the election. Stealing the election won't be possible if a conservative Supreme Court is there to put a stop to it. We cannot count on Chief Justice Roberts. he appears to be compromised. And the way the Dems first reaction to Trump's diagnosis was to demand the ACB hearings be postponed, tells me they are very afraid the Supreme Court will foil all their plans.

We cannot afford to mess this up. If the Dems take control of our federal government, they will pack the courts with their people, they will pack the Senate and the Electoral College by admitting 7 new states, or more, and they will control our government forever.

This really is for all the marbles.

Agree 100%. I think they should skip the hearings since she has already recently been through that and just vote if they let the sick ones vote from home.

The trouble is Senators on the committee, up for re-election, need to Grandstand on T.V. Senator Graham is short of money for his campaign.

Yes, the Constitution requires a quorum for the Senate and House to conduct business, but it doesn’t say anything about lawmakers having to be physically present. That requirement comes from chamber rules, which Hemel argues could be rewritten to allow for remote voting in crisis situations. While there might be security concerns, Hemel pointed out that corporate boards permit videoconferencing to count toward a quorum, so it’s unclear why Congress would be incapable of using a similar system to conduct its business.

If remote voting isn’t adopted, Hemel suggested COVID-19 could cause other problems too. “You can imagine a circumstance where one party actually gets a majority because the other party is more affected,” said Hemel, which could create concerns about the long-term legitimacy of votes taken in such circumstances.

Case in point: All five senators currently quarantined are Republican, which has reduced the GOP’s edge in the Senate from 53-47 to 48-47. This has already affected the party’s ability to advance an economic stimulus bill on Sunday, although even without the quarantine, Republicans would have needed some Democratic votes to move forward because of cloture rules, and both sides voted the party line. Still, we can see how abstentions due to health concerns could make it difficult for lawmakers to weigh in on vital issues down the line.

Well that's it then. The Senate must vote on ACB remotely.

And they had better do it soon, before the Dems take down the internet... we always have to be three steps ahead of them!

I’m not sure stopping the last two debates is a bad thing.

The challenger needs the debates - not the incumbent. The challenger needs to convince the American people that they need to change horses in mid stream. A tall order.

As for the SCOTUS confirmation - why would this slow it down?

Thanks! I think I remember a vote not happening in the House because it couldn’t be done in person but I didn’t know the rules could be changed.

“As for the SCOTUS confirmation - why would this slow it down?”

Because the surprisingly partisan Covid virus is, after seven months, amazingly starting to pick off Republican senators who sit on the Judiciary Committee.

So far, the Democrats on the committee are unscathed.

And that she has many quivers in her bow.

A quiver is a container for arrows, darts, etc. Quivers "in a bow" does not make sense. What Pelosi said was "arrows in my quiver."

I remember a vote not being held in the House because it had to be done in person but I have been informed that the House and Senate can change those rules. If it has to happen in person, with Republican Senators in quarantine it won’t happen because they won’t have enough votes to confirm.

I’m probably wrong but I think Barrett was the target, if it was planned. If that’s right they were infected at her nomination just prior to the debate but it backfired because she put out a statement later that she was immune since she has already had it. They are desperate to stop her confirmation. Killing the President IMO wasn’t the goal if it was intentional since so few actually die from it. Stopping Barrett was because she would have been forced into quarantine. Senators being quarantined to stop the vote is also a reason.

Like I said in another post, anybody that doesn’t think they will do ANYTHING they have to in order to stop the President and voting on Barrett hasn’t been paying attention.

Removing my tin foil now. The timing is suspicious to me though.

“ YES!! So far ONLY REPUBLICANS have “caught” this virus??? WEIRD!”

If Pence gets it, and the media start with both Pence and Trump being unable to fulfill their duties, who becomes President?

The media does not have the authority to make such a determination.

we should know by now which of the people testing positive have had further tests to check for false positive.
and not using the same test kits either.

we should know by now the exact test kit brand that was used on Trump and FLOTUS, and which on the others. when and where and by whom they were each tested.

we should know a lot more by now; instead we have vile FakeNewsMSM pieces continuing to attack the President! they have no interest in providing the public with any of the above detail.

Masks don’t do anything, many doctors have already demonstrated this. They don’t protect the person wearing or anyone else. Distancing does not protect either. It’s all psychological programming. Eat well, take your vitamins, pray to God. Survival rates for under 70 are 99.98%, and over 70 has been 96.5%. As premier Kenney said in Alberta. The average age that was 83 of the people who died from covid. The average age of people who just die in Alberta is 82. This has been way overblown.

I am very suspicious of how many of Trump’s team have got this. It defies the odds. I hope the secret service is investigating.

Excellent post! The chances of a bunch of Republicans getting coronavirus at a time when the virus has been in decline, while the Democrats have not been getting it are infentismally small. The Amy Coney Barrett nomination event seems to have marked the start of this strange phenomina. Since President Trump has been tested every other day, along with everyone who works near him... my guess is that the Secret Service has a pretty good idea what is going on. The move to Walter Reed was more likely to have been done for security reasons than for healthcare reasons.

This method of election interference is no doubt fairly easy to accomplish with little chance of the "seeders" being detected while they are doing it. The evidence is in the results that they have acheived. My guess is that Democrat leadership is directly involved. This would be an overt act of treason.
