Blacks owned slaves too
The first "legal" slave owner in the colonies was a black man.

Anthony Johnson, a black man, was originally an indentured servant who went on to become a free person. In 1655, Mr. Johnson (a black man) went on to own the first slave for life.

The Horrible Fate of John Casor, The First Black Man to be Declared Slave for Life in America
"About seven years later, Virginia made this practice legal for everyone, in 1661, by making it state law for any free white, black or Indian to be able to own slaves, along with indentured servants"

Thereafter, 10's of thousands of free blacks owned black slaves in the 1800's right here in the United States.

Louisiana led all states in Black slave ownership, and it was not even close. The 1830 United States census showed that 965 Louisiana Blacks owned 4,206 slaves. According to that census, Louisiana had 25% of the total number of “free Black slave owners” in America and 33% of the total number of “slaves owned by free Blacks” in America. The next highest in each category were Virginia with 948 Blacks owning 2,235 slaves and South Carolina with 464 Blacks owning 2,715 slaves. The New Orleans population was 46,082 in 1830, and locally 753 Blacks owned 2,349 slaves in the Crescent City.

Thirty years later, the number of Black slave owners had quadrupled. According to federal census reports, on June 1, 1860, New Orleans had 10,689 non-slave Black residents, or free people of color as was a phrase of the era. Of those “over 3,000 free Negroes owned slaves, or 28 percent of the free Negroes in that city,” according to Duke University professor John Hope Franklin, America’s leading African American historian.

Think this stops in California?

Think again. As being discussed elsewhere on FR today, CA "gave" the nation "gay" marriage and "green" standards for vehicles...just to name a few.

No. I am free of guilt on this one. I have no slave owning ancestors in this country (or colonies) with my namesake arriving here in the mid 1850's, settling in upper Michigan and Wisconsin. I also have ancestors who fought, and one who died, in the civil war. To top it off, my wife is an immigrant from asia. No, our family owes NO ONE, anything, for slavery.

This notion of "reparations" is gaining steam and this first in the U.S. state law to "study" this "idea" will not be the last.

It's said almost every cycle, but this election year is yet the most critical to help determine our country's' future. If Biden wins, Harris becomes president in the next year or two and this reparations insanity will be country wide at the federal level.

There are simply WAY too many people in this country now who's ancestors had NOTHING to do with slavery in this country/colonies.

They are trying their damndest to start another full scale civil war.

"Think this stops in California?"

=======================

"This is not just about California, this is about making an impact, and a dent, across the rest of the country," Newsom said moments after signing the bill during a ceremony broadcast on his YouTube channel.
