Three people were killed, including an 11-year-old boy, following a hostage situation in Oregon Monday afternoon.
Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a possible hostage situation in Salem, Ore., around 12:30 p.m. P.T. Monday afternoon.
The suspect, Jesus Lopez-Tinoco, was holding two adults and two children hostage when deputies arrived at the scene. A trained negotiator was able to get ahold of Lopez-Tinoco when officers heard shots fired.

Salem, OR is not Portland.
Salem is on the other side of the state, FFS.
Salem is 40 miles or so south of Portland.
Salem is about an hour south of Portland on I-5. It is not on the other side of the state.

I try not to automatic think Illegal Alien but usually it is. There was no residency info, household was all Hispanic.
Reporter should be fired. Salem is not Portland. Headline shoulda been “Hostage taker and two hostages die in situation”. Would have been better info.

I don’t automatically think it. That’s why I said “possible.” But the majority of Hispanic Americans don’t use hyphenated names and the majority of illegal aliens do.
There also seems to be a disparity of stories like this between illegal aliens and Hispanic citizens.
