“””””The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution requires that the police, before they enter your home with a search warrant or an arrest warrant for that matter, knock and announce themselves,” said Ago. “That’s the rule that’s the requirement.” “”””””””” That’s what the cops did. it was very impolite of the drug dealer inside to shoot at them.“

The fourth says nothing of knocking and announcing. What is does say is we are to be free of UNREASONABLE searches. Breaking down the door to someones home in the middle of the night announced or otherwise is the very definition of unreasonable. The results speak for themselves. The is no compelling reason to use forcible entry to serve a search warrant. The police should be required to knock and get a response from the occupants, if no response is received they wait, period no exceptions. If this were followed (ie, a reasonable search) this women would be alive. Also keep in mind this is NOT an isolated incident. This happens all the time and police officers have been killed by people defending themselves.
