A quick google search says a Tesla charger can drew 11.5kw or 47 amps of power. It is basically adding a central AC system to your house, that will primarily operate when people get home from work. So they get get home, plug in the car, turn on the A/C, cook diner, do laundry, etc. Now do that in thousands of houses at the same time, at night.
