Just over a month of launching Russia's 'Sputnik V' vaccine against the novel coronavirus, the Russian government on Monday said that over 3,000 Moscow residents have got the dose of its first Covid-19 vaccine till now, according to a report.

"More than 3,000 volunteers have already been vaccinated against the coronavirus. None of them have problems. People feel good. I myself went through this vaccination procedure and you see - nothing happened to me, although several months have already passed," said the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, as per Russian news agency Tass.

However, amid the surging cases in the country's capital, Sobyanin on Friday ordered the elderly to stay at home and recommended employers allow home working.

Sobyanin said Muscovites over 65 years old should stay at home from Monday and shop rarely, while walks outside remain unrestricted.

No, Russia is currently conducting stage 3 trials on 40,000 subjects that will end in May 2021.

"post-registration clinical trials that began earlier this month would involve more than 40,000 recruits in Russia"..."Phase 3 trials of Sputnik V, an adenovirus-based vector vaccine distributed in two doses, are expected to wrap up in May 2021."

Russia is in the middle of country-wide inoculation. First batches of the vaccine have been made ready to be administered to essential workers first. Talks have also been made with India, with pharma giant, Dr Reddy’s all set to bring the vaccine to India, produce ample doses for the public after it goes through phase III trials, clearances and required nods from the DGCI. As per reports, the administration could start as early as January next year.

Russia is in the middle of country-wide inoculation

No, Russia announced approval of vaccine but has not released it to the general population. It would be a criminal act if Russia released a vaccine to the general population after only testing it on 76 people. It went through phase 2 testing with 76 total patients. Its now in phase 3 testing involving 40,000 people. India will also test the Russian vaccine.

"On Aug 11, 2020, Russia became the first country in the world to approve a vaccine... Nonetheless, there are widespread concerns that the approval is premature. At the time of approval, the vaccine had not even started phase 3 trials... Large-scale clinical trials of the vaccine, involving over 40 000 people, were scheduled to begin in Russia in the last week of August. “A number of countries, such as United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and possibly India or Brazil, will join the clinical trials of Sputnik V locally”, noted the official website...On the other hand, it is entirely possible that Russia will hold off vaccinating its general population until it has received favourable results from the phase 3 trial. In which case, the announcement of the approval of Sputnik V might amount to a political gesture"

Sorry, I neglected to include quotation marks.

That was not me saying that.

That was the author.

You seem to be thinking Russian drug firms, are like American drug firms, all delaying until the election...

(Yup I said that)

Russia is ready to significantly, beat us in this competition. For real.

Meanwhile, our companies continue to stall, and stall, and stall.

Russia is going to release this.

Soon, I think.

For real.
