There's no point in lengthy hearings if enough Senators have decided to confirm and if Democrats have decided to vote against Barrett.

Why the hell is Linda waiting until October 12? That's 12 wasted days in October plus several days in September. He should roll up his sleeves and "git er done" starting this week.

Is Linda Graham a McClellan or a Patton? Hmmm. Discuss among yourselves …

Nov 3rd makes it a question that she can preside on cases brought to the court in a timely fashion?

Perhaps on whether the she can give imput as a sitting judge on the SCOTUS in any way?

To who’s benefit?

Personally, I would rather skip the hearings and vote. That being said, the dynamics here are a little different than Kavanaugh.

The GOP had a 51-49 majority in 2018. In addition to Collins and MooCowSki, Flake was also there showboating.

Today, it’s a 53-47 Majority.

The GOP can lose 3 and still win.

Collins and MooCowSki were always going to flake out. Romney still might, but it becomes much harder to find the 4th.

Gardner, Grassley, Tillis, Alexander and Capito are probably who the media would try to flip.

Gardner, Tillis and Capito are all up for re-election and any one of them will lose if they vote “no.” I think they know it too.

That leaves Alexander and Grassley and both are very close to McConnell and I think he has them locked up.

Unfortunately, all of the posters on this thread are not U.S. Senators, and the Senate decides how to execute the confirmation process. Graham has no choice but to do this. Democrats demand it, and quite a few Republican Senators want the same thing. These Republican Senators are not our friends, they don’t like Trump and they don’t like their constituents.

The existing rules of the Senate dictate this process, and Graham and McConnell don’t have the votes to change or waive the rules.

Hang in there. The last time the Democrats had a hissy fit over a Supreme Court Justice, we gained seats in the Senate.

Graham: "...we’ll hold it [nomination] over for a week, and we’ll report her nomination out of the committee on Oct. 22."

Anybody know why they would hold up the nomination for a week?

Better than not, but so close to the election to prevent the hysteria from dying down.

Sen McConnell had barely enough committed senators to vote for confirmation of Amy Barrett. Then Murkowski and Collins and several other reluctants came on board. Perhaps this two week process resulted from negotiations with these senators. There is a price to be paid for getting a result that will put some senators in trouble with their supporters and financers. I have no doubt that compromising with these RINO senators came at a cost, and the delay was part of that cost. I hope that Sen Graham understands that if the commie democrats start their usual dirty attempts to tarnish this nominee, it will not be tolerated and the President will insist on doing what he is empowered to do to make short work of putting Amy Barrett on the Supreme Court.

Am I correct in thinking she needs to be in place for the upcoming Election court cases?

Unless there is a landslide she needs to be in place. It is still possible we have a landslide, praying for that outcome.

Pelosi can bring , to the Senate, Impeachment actions against the President which I believe over rule anything else on the Senate's agenda.

Of course, we all know that there will be last minute ethics violations and people will want to be able to freely accuse her of whatever George Soros tells them to.
