Years ago some people in Mississippi died of brain amoeba from using tap water in their netti pot.
I was having a sinus infection and told my doctor I would use distilled water in my netti pot because these people died.
She said “Well, that’s in the South. We have good water here in Seattle.”
A year later a woman in Seattle died of brain amoeba from her netti pot. Do not put tap water in your nose, no matter where you live.

Do the common water filtration (pitcher) filters catch these pathogens?

Well, thats in the South. We have good water here in Seattle.
I don't know about amoebas, but the tap water in Everett, WA was as good as any water, bottled or tap, that I have drunk in my entire life. Here in Phoenix, we get our water from a kiosk as the tap water has issues.

Boiled tap water is fine. Even 140 degrees kills naegleria fowleri very dead.

I think about this every time I hear ads for nasal irrigation products.

IIRC it was a different kind of brain eating amoeba but deadly just the same.
