The past 2 elections have seen REPs lead in vote-by-mail (VBM) returned ballots. This year because of the pandemic, it is expected DEMs will vote-by-mail in much larger numbers than previous elections. REPs need to keep the margin as close as possible and then win Florida on election day.
Here are the RETURNED Florida VBM numbers for 2020 (these are returned ballots but not yet counted).
<1% of VBM ballots have been returned at this point.
<1% of REP ballots have been returned and <1% of DEM ballots have been returned.
09/26/20: REPs - 1,983, DEMs - 3,184, lead of 1,201 for DEMs, 48.2% to 30.0%
09/25/20: REPs - 754, DEMs - 1,673, lead of 919 for DEMs, 55.0% to 24.8%
For comparison to 2016:
10/06/16: REPs - 4,163, DEMs - 2,738, lead of 1,425 for REPs
October 6th is the earliest date which I have stats for in 2016. Next week we will catch up on a "similar time to 2016".

Nice job seems the democrats have succeeded in scaring their voters from the polls because of corona would love to know how close this needs to be for Trump to overtake Biden on Election Day
What is the difference when the ballots are cast as long as they are all in by election day?
“What is the difference when the ballots are cast as long as they are all in by election day?”
There is no difference is the quick answer.
The longer answer is more nuanced. Campaigns think that people who may not stand in line on election day (work/kids, etc) can lock in a vote by getting that person to vote by mail early. There is a trade off because VBM has a higher rejection rate.
VBM also helps with GOTV. The “ground game” should track supporters. As they vote early, their name is checked off in a database. On election day, door knocks occur for people who still haven’t voted.
If I had the choice of every Trump supporter voting by mail and none on election day, I’d chose the former. I hope as many REPs as possible VBM in Florida.

Isn’t there a greater chance of someone discarding/destroying mail-ins, especially from precincts that are more likely to vote Trump?
funny that in my entire life I have never had to stand in line more than a couple of minutes to vote
“Central Florida Supervisors of Elections each have dedicated sections on their websites where voters can track their ballots to make sure they’ve been received and processed”
Many of the Florida counties are run by Republicans.
Thanks!
I stood in line almost 2 hours to vote for Reagan
We got an email followed by text messages from Mary Jane Arrington letting us know that our “vote by mail” ballots are on their way. We did not request these ballots. We will be bringing our “vote by mail” ballots with us when we vote in person this year to make sure that they do not turn us away at the polls thinking that we have already voted by mail. We will also be voting against Mary Jane Arrington because she sent us these ballots that we did not request.
Our advice to anyone in Florida who received unsolicited ballots in the mail who plan to vote in person - bring the ballot with you to the polls to ensure that they allow you to vote!
“We got an email followed by text messages from Mary Jane Arrington “
How did (air quotes) “Mary Jane Arrington’ get your cell number to send a text? She might be like (air quotes) “Jake from State Farm”.
Suspicious.
The enthusiasm is so low for Joe Biden, I'm guessing that most of his voters wouldn't stand in line for 10 minutes to vote for him. I have always thought that was one of the reasons the Democrats are pushing so hard for mail-in voting this election - they know that Biden supporters are not terribly committed. It is a lot easier to cast a vote from home than to go to a polling station.
I have wondered that, too. So many politicians text me these days. I do not know how they got my cell phone.
“The enthusiasm is so low for Joe Biden,”
I can’t believe you said that. The event Jill just had for him had a couple people sitting at a picnic table. C’MON, MAN! That’s enthusiasm!
Could Trump issue an executive order making Nov. 3rd a national holiday?
Are you sure that the guy on the left isn't just the maintenance guy who has to clean up afterwards? He's probably thinking 'this is the easiest overtime I've ever earned.'
Yep. Those were the good ole days when Carter was running for re-election with 21% inflation.
What are the dates for in person early vote in Florida?
