That actually makes the most sense here. I'm surprised nearly all retail hasn't gone to this yet. Great technology. Great inventory control Less loss from theft and other stealing ways. But then, after that, I think it's not too far until one gets "authorized to buy and sell" with a "religious" O.K. from the false prophet.

There were threads about these on FR, oh about 15-16 years ago. Which prompted me to remove the plastic casings from such items as books, consumer electronics, OTC medicines. They basically inert with no onboard power source and can only pong back to query power beam broadcast from detection devices, such as at exits, registers, hand held scanners.
