Taiwan has been investing in minelayers and developing sophisticated underwater mines in the hope of thwarting the People's Liberation Army's plan to take over the island within three days - a move that could buy time for other forces to come to the island's aid, according to military analysts.
In two recent naval exercises conducted by the PLA's Eastern and Southern theatre commands, the military's mine sweepers and minehunters played important roles in helping the flotillas clear sea lanes from underwater mines, state-run China Central Television reported.

The anti-mine training comes as the PLA steps up its island encirclement drills by sending fighter jets and warships into the Taiwan Strait at a time when the island's authorities are growing closer to the United States.
Beijing, which regards the island as a breakaway province and has never renounced the use of force to bring it back into its fold, has accused Washington and Taipei of promoting independence.

The Chinks don’t want any part of us.
Taiwan needs full diplomatic relations with the US for anyone else to come to their aid. The Arab nations in the Gulf should pay the bill. After all it's their oil headed to Japan and SE Asia.
Taiwan would be a better business partner for the Japanese, the the Filipino people and the US.
The Video can’t even come up with footage that’s original.

Why we buy anything from these Commie filth is beyond me.
Also, we owe them no money.
Their intellectual theft of our goods makes us even.
It’s obvious the CCP do not understand Americans.
Sadam Hussain did the same thing. He boasted he had WMDs thinking we wouldn’t attack. We attacked because he had WNDs.
The CCP thinks we will fear them because they have a big military. No - we will crush them because with their military they are a threat to world peace and they want to supplant the US. We are acting now before they become a more serious threat.
The CCP is doomed.
We aren’t attacking anyone who’s armed with nuclear weapons. Don’t kid yourself. And any attack on the Chinese mainland - even if it remained conventional, and there’s no guarantee of that - would take a decade or more to sort out and cost a million+ US lives and tens of trillions of dollars of equipment and weapons. And for what? If the Chinese want to try and play empire, we can make that so expensive for them it bankrupts them. And that doesn’t require a war. Let’s just do that.
