For freedom loving Americans we abide by and cherish The Constitution. To the communist supporting Democrats it’s The CONstitution, and they ignore it and treat it like toilet paper. This is the rather lame thinking of someone from inside the beltway. Specific reasons, however so little or large, are overwhelmed by 50+ years of leftist ruining American. We can't distill elections to one event or lack there of. The specific reason cited by Lott will reoccur. Too many so-called conservatives lack expectations for on-going achievement. They lack the testicular fortitude to win, claim their spoils and continue to win again.
I think we SHOULD get rid of the filibuster - and replace it with a requirement for a 60% supermajority to pass ALL legislation in the Senate.
Yeah, nothing would get out of the Senate. Is that really a bad thing?
Appointments would still only require a majority.
I thought the filibuster was already a “dead letter” rule in the US Senate. Expanding the Supreme Court to 13, or 15, or whatever, only further dilutes the value of a minority dissent (which may have been the overall intent).
Once the dust has settled on this election, and in the event the Senate Republicans retain their majority and Donald Trump is retained as President, then the expansion of the Supreme Court may be offered magnanimously for the consideration of the Democrat minority.
In those circumstances they would vote to reject it unanimously.
Only if commercials are made and trump discusses it every chance he gets.
