You understand that the flu vaccine is recreated every year, based on the available data about what strains are likely active and which mutations have taken place, right? It’s a new formulation each time. The program may be the same, but the vaccine you took last year is a totally different vaccine from the year before. And they don’t have to do full phase 1, 2, and 3 trials on each new formulation because they’re considered “close enough” to the previous one.
Not that I’m against the flu vaccine; just pointing out that the good doctor is correct in stating that the vaccine for COVID-19 will have more testing than this year’s flu vaccine.
