Arguments against vaccination are political and Scientifically ignorant

Pay no attention to the outbreak of vaccine induced polio in Africa. Vaccines are mostly harmless.

Hm???.....Interesting point.
Having grown up in a medical family (both parents, multiple aunts, uncles and cousins), I stay far away from every flu shot. I haven't had the flu for at least 40 years now, and I don't plan on getting anywhere near that virus.
I've had all the childhood diseases (chicken pox, flu, measles, mumps, etc), and now I never get sick. I honestly cannot remember the last time I got sick (Actually I can--I spent a week bedridden with flu in the 7th grade), or missed work due to a medical reason.
There is something to be said for getting sick as a child and building up one's immune system. It does work.
The media is saying that 80% of people who have not gotten the kung Flu are still at risk of contracting it, DUH. Anything to scare people.
Are you familiar with the term red herring?
Your hysteria is impressive. Show me one iota of falsified data in the phase three trials. You cant so your conspiracy theory is merely ther. That is the textbook definition of an ignorant statement. So with thanks for proving the point.
Don’t know because nobody cared, O’Bama was president.
where do you get 1 - 1.2 million deaths? there are places we are close to here immunity now. if we would le the college kids get this and get on with life we would be even closer. im not against the vaccine but your numbers are way overblown
10% of the population has been or currently is infected. R0 is 2.5 per CDC. Herd Immunity Threshold is 1-1/R0, or 60%. 206,598 officially recorded deaths as of right now. Around 250,000 excess deaths this year, all beginning in late March. 6x206,598 = 1,239,588. 6*250,000 = 1,500,000.
1-1.2 million over where we are today.
New Jersey is likely the closest to the Herd Immunity Threshold. They’ve had around 28% infected so far. That’s still less than half. A safe and effective vaccine will short-circuit all this and get us to herd immunity without those deaths. Thankfully President Trump has been working hard to bring multiple vaccines to market and has secured the first doses for Americans. Moderna says they’ll have 20 million doses by year’s end. Others should have similar or greater amounts by then. If we have ~4 vaccines approved by the end of the year, we should have somewhere close to 100 million doses available. That will put a huge dent in transmission, particularly once healthcare workers and others who are most at risk for infection become inoculated.
There is another thread on here that claims Dr. Scarves is sulking and thinking about quitting. All because Trump is now listening to Scott Atlas and is forcing the CDC to post stuff like this to their website.
Can’t happen soon enough IMHO. Fauci needs to join her.
Thank you.
Will we have different vaccines?
That is for those that get infected, not the whole population.
You can have your crayons back, now.
You doubled-down and lost again.
Facts are stubborn things...
I’m glad this is coming from the CDC and measures infected vs. fatal. FWIW, I believe fatalities IS the key measure.
When we look at the week-over-week incremental change in fatalities, it has remained low and steady when compared to the number of cases. It doesn’t seem proportional, and looks absurd when plotted on a graph. It has also been trending downward.
There will probably be 2-5 approved by the end of the year with another 1-3 more early next year. It’ll be a robust marketplace with different options depending on what your personal preferences are in terms of technology used (traditional vaccines vs gen 3 platform vaccines) and ethical concerns (whether fetal stem cells were used in the research and development).
President Trump made sure the incentives were in place for Operation Warp Speed so that we’d have multiple winners in this race and not just one hand-picked by the government.
That is a good, simple, common-sense thing we could do. What ghoul would do such a thing? Nobody in his or her right mind would do such s stupid thing, right?
The 70+ group does NOT include those 80 and older, whose survival rate is around 82% last I checked. Taken as a whole, the doc’s numbers are likely pretty accurate, even measured across the population as a whole.
If 60% of people 70-79 become infected and 5.4% die, that’s 3.24% of that group. And if 60% of people 80 and older become infected and 18% die, that’s 10.8% of that group. That averages out to 7%. Assuming that are more people age 70-79 than 80-110, the total percentage skews down closer to... (wait for it) 5%.
Or 1 in 20.
Again another thread on FR today saying the FDA has imposed additional testing requirements that would push any vaccine release into 2021.
I am all for caution but it’s clear this move is 99% political. I’m sure Dr. Hahn’s phone is ringing this morning.
Of course they arent 100% effective, but all the reports indicate they have high success rates.
Please point out where I am wrong.
* the data do not report out fatality rates with or without the two protocols
* we would not be killing 20% of our seniors by opening up. 20% of those infected would die. But the infection rate is somewhat controllable, especially if evil governors do not order sick people to go back into nursing homes. Another important question is how many years of life are lost in the over 70or over 80 cohorts? How many died with COVID versus of COVID? How many of these deaths were miscategorized because of the notoriously over-sensitive PCR test?
I have a distant cousin who died in Jan 1919 of influenza, but she had tuberculosis for a year. Her death certificate initially said tuberculosis but was changed to influenza.
That hasn’t been done yet. There’s a report that they want to go that direction. President Trump has stated that the White House would have to approve of any changes like that and that they may or may not approve those changes if they come across his desk.
