Furthermore, there are plenty of Cubans that support socialism. If there weren't, the Castro family would never have risen to power and remained there iron fisted for decades.

I was down there in the Batista days, courtesy of the USN. That guy was a brutal dictator - one doctor told us how humiliated he felt when he went his pants when Batistas police paid him a visit - usually you disappeared.

Stuff like that made people look for someone else. Unfortunately, when the Reds get in power, they're in for life, so the only solution is to bail out of the country.

"Unfortunately, when the Reds get in power, they're in for life, so the only solution is to bail out of the country."

And some of them brought the socialism with them. Notice, (D) support did not start at zero.

After decades of GOP support, Cubans shifting toward the Democratic Party (JUNE 24, 2014)

All that (D) support can not be attributed to 2nd gen being born here. From that 2014 article: "Some 48% of Cubans ages 18 to 49 were born in the U.S"
Meaning, 52% in that demographic were not born here.

Additionally, from the article: "The shift is also partly explained by the different waves of Cuban immigrants who have arrived in the U.S.—more than half of Cuban immigrants arrived after 1990."

The bottom line is that a sizeable portion of the cuban population living in the U.S. today just simply thinks liberalism/socialism/communism/marxism is better.
