The 500/590 accepts the OPsol mini which allows loading the mini shells. I have 15 in my 500 security. The mini shells come in 7 1/2 bird shot, buckshot, and slugs. The slugs generate over 100 dt pounds of energy!
Mini shells are just a crutch for having poor magazine capacity in a pump. My Saiga 12 has drums that can take than many full house rounds, which are far more effective.
Also - a regular 12 gauge 2.75” slug generates literally more than 10 times the energy you quote.
Typo, meant to type 1100 ft pounds
Still a big deficit. The nominal baseline for a 2.75” 1 ounce foster slug is in excess of *2300* ft-lbs. A 3” cartridge 1 ounce slug generates in excess of *3100* ft-lbs. By comparison, a 150 grain .30-06 bullet generates about 2200 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
Going with a short mini shell gives up a *lot* of the raw power that is the shotgun’s short range advantage.
I’m afraid you are giving them way too much credit. Why do they do stupid things? Sometimes the obvious answer is the correct one. Because they ARE stupid. Additionally, they are playing a losing hand in a “game” of spiritual warfare. They have hardened their hearts and are making one blunder after the next, very much like the Pharaoh did in dealing with the Hebrew slaves. Now, the Deep State is about to pursue Trump into the appropriately named Red Sea.
