Social media executives should play a key role in ensuring the legitimacy of the 2020 election, former Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats suggested in a New York Times op-ed Thursday. Coats recommended the U.S. create a new nonpartisan commission that would help reassure the American public that their votes would be counted and seek to monitor forces attempting to undermine the election.

Dan Coats could restore a lot of legitimacy all by himself. Just come clean about every under-handed scheme perpetrated by both Republicans and Democrats. No Tech oligarchs (who almost no one on the left or right trusts) needed.

Coats has ties to the Transition Integrity Project that is implementing a very detailed plan to take elections out of the hands of elected representatives and turn the decision over to unelected elites. This parallels a commission set up in the UK that nearly thwarted the public vote to leave the EU and the Conseil Commission in France that has similar powers to overturn elections that are “close”.
This was also used here in 1876 to install Rutherford B. Hayes as President after the corruption of the Grant administration lead to the failure of Reconstruction efforts in the South. The result was to institutionalize and protect the “Jim Crow” laws that oppressed Southern blacks for generations. Coats is trying to make this temporary commission permanent this time.
This is a very frightening unconstitutional power grab and must be resisted by all free Americans that believe power must only be based on the will of the people through elections and elected representatives. This would change the Constitution forever.
