Nearly 30 years ago, President Bill Clinton made a significant change to federal land management that created the conditions necessary for massive wildfires to consume portions of the West Coast, according to a fire expert who predicted the problem years ago.
Shortly before leaving office in 2001, Clinton limited the ability of the United States Forest Service to thin out a dense thicket of foliage and downed trees on federal land to bring the West into a pristine state, Bob Zybach, an experienced forester with a Ph.D. in environmental science, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. The former presidents decision created a ticking time bomb, Zybach argues.
If you dont start managing these forests, then they are going to start burning up. Thirty years later, they are still ignoring it, said Zybach, who spent more than 20 years as a reforestation contractor.
He was referring to warnings he made years ago, telling officials that warding off prescribed burns in Oregon and California creates kindling that fuels fires.
Such rules make it more difficult to deploy prescribed burns, which are controlled burns designed to cull all of the underbrush in forests to lessen the chance of massive fires, Zybach noted.
Years of keeping these areas in their natural state result in dead trees and dried organic material settling on the forest floor, which become like matchsticks soaked in jet fuel during dry seasons, he said.
Zybachs comments come as wildfires continue churning through parts of California, Oregon, and Washington, media reports show.

Especially if liberals keep starting fires.
Roadless Clinton, the ***hole.
Yes indeed, the liberals who know nothing in positions of power to make decisions that ruin something.
Local decisions made by one tyrant 2,000 miles away.
I wonder why there aren’t these horrible fires in places like Idaho and Montana. They have huge forests too. Maybe the people there are smarter than those in charge of CA, OR, and WA.
Actually this is completely false. The "natural state: of the forest is to be burned off every few years. Fires are naturally started by lightning on a very regular basis. The forests as a whole have evolved over eons to withstand this and regenerate.
The trouble starts when man decides he knows better than God and suppresses fire.

Real science is that Mother Nature is doing what Liberals won’t do. Mother Nature is cleaning up after herself. If no one inhabited California, these same fires would be happening every few decades. It’s the cycle of life. Now that all the old dead stuff is burned up, and the ash provides fertilizer, new trees will grow and life (of the forest) will be renewed. Liberals want us to leave the forests alone, well this is what you get. Mother Nature cleaning up after herself since the Liberals won’t do it.
That’s my understanding of the process. Periodic fires burn off modest amounts of fuel. If we artificially suppress fires fuel builds up and eventually the fires are severe and damaging to the environment. We either have to let nature do it’s thing, or take on the whole job of suppressing fires and clearing fuel. You can’t do only half the job.
I like what Rush said about California. He said that California has all of these laws for ecology that have resulted in brown and blackouts because they cannot keep up with the energy demands. Florida has much worse heat an there is no energy deficit there. Florida doesn't have the ecological laws that California has and has none of the fires.
.......So it all started with the extremist “environmental” policies of the face-biting rapist himself—Bill Clinton.
Everything both Clintons have touched ultimately has been ruined, poisoned, destroyed, etc. That’s what toxic people do.
Blaming liberal policies is kind of damning.
