The Big Tens month of mayhem amid the coronavirus pandemic could be on the verge of a stunning conclusion.
The possibility of a fall football season starting sometime in October has grown ahead of a scheduled Saturday meeting between medical experts and campus leaders, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ Advance Media. ESPN first reported the medical subcommittee of the Big Tens return to play committee will present updates on testing capabilities and other issues to a subcommittee of the leagues council of presidents and chancellors.
If the leadership council signs off on the proposal made by the medical subcommittee, which consists of experts and athletics directors, the entire council of presidents and chancellors could vote on restart plans as soon as Sunday. But there is no guarantee the proposal will move past the subcommittee stage.
If the subcommittees proposals - buoyed by unexpected advancements in the availability and efficacy of rapid antigen testing - are rubber-stamped by the campus leaders, the Big Ten could conceivably kick off sometime in mid or late October after its August 11 decision to punt on the season has devolved into complete upheaval.
An Oct. 17 start date would give the conference 10 Saturdays before the College Football Playoff field is selected. There is an industry belief a national title contender like Ohio State would likely need to play its six division games, plus the Big Ten title game, in order to eliminate any concerns about resume inequities compared to ACC, Big 12 and SEC programs, so the conference could look to start later than mid-October.

Monkeys who can neither read nor write are processed through and graduated from a college for no other reason than they can run 100 yards in record time.
What a joke.
If it’s woke, I won’t be watching.

I don’t have a lot of hope for a fall football season. The way the Big Ten politburo dithers it will be next year before they can make a decision. Players will bolt to conferences that are actually playing or go pro. Frankly, I don’t really care anymore. I may actually go to a High School game or 2 this year if my governor permits it.
Clemson (Notre Dame long shot), Alabama (LSU long shot), Ohio State and Oklahoma (Texas long shot) should make for a decent playoff this year. They’d probably have to take the conference champions from the big 4 conferences.
They finally figured out how much money theyre losing outweighs assuaging the virus-panicked libs in those college towns. The PAC-12 will soon follow.
Youll also start hearing TV stories about how the increased infection rates at those universities isnt as bad as predicted, and that campuses will be opening up for spring semester or winter quarter.
Sorry. They will be full on “SJ” and wokeness so not interested.
Another Trump win!
Don’t care if it comes back but it will help in the election.
College football is huge in many ways. Popularity. Jobs. Thousands of incomes —ranging from university finances to the neighborhood restaurants and ancillary businesses that survive only because of the fall football season.
And then, there’s the politics of it all. Many govs and U presidents hope to stifle business to hurt the Prez.
Nope, not watching them, they are better at doing the woke thing which is their new mission ... to extinction
If they’d name the championship the Bish Bowl after the Gov of MI, everyone would watch.
I don’t get it...
The one building off the diag in Ann Arbor was called the Fish Bowl..
Nobody cares. To come back with a bunch of BLM crap, covid crap, etc. They already screwed the pooch. Stay closed for all I care.
They all sided with BLM and the covid scam. Let em starve and close their doors. Strange business model to flip the finger to your customers.
More and more people are starting to agree with you. Virtually none of these “Student Athletes” even deserve to be in a University.
Looks like the ‘opium of the people’ will be back to keep them happy and controlled.

Of all the things to wish for (I prefer to pray) at a time when this country is less than two months from either becoming a nation of free people or a third world shite-hole ran by leftist dictators I would put the return of football at the very bottom of the list. Todays version of the Roman Gladiators and lions murdering Christians to amuse the public and divert their attention from the evil taking place around them is the last thing we need. It only serves to take our eyes off the ball. Todays Caesars Pelosi, Biden, Schumer, and the rest of the leftist are salivating at the chance of stealing this election right under our noses as we are transfixed on football and worried only about our favorite teams standing. Shame on us and God forgive us if we allow this to happen. Wake up Americans!
Lets go PSU!
My son plays D1 football and is not a monkey. He can read and write. In fact, he is on the Honor Roll at a major university that is driven by high academic standards.
Don’t care.
