The Academy of Motion Pictures has announced that no film will be allowed to enter the race for an Oscar unless they meet politically correct diversity quotas. This is a disgrace to artists everywhere can you imagine telling Picasso what had to be in his f***ing paintings, tweeted Kirstie Alley. You people have lost your minds. Control artists, control individual thought .. OSCAR ORWELL.
Kristie Alley later deleted the above tweet and clarified that she supports diversity and inclusion but opposes the mandating of it.
On Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) released its new guidelines for inclusion, which dictated that movies must meet a diversity threshold, employing specific minority individuals in front of or behind the camera to qualify for Best Picture. As The Los Angeles Times reported:
Those standards require one of the following: at least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors is from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group; at least 30% of all actors in secondary and more minor roles are from certain underrepresented groups; or the main storyline, theme or narrative is centered on an underrepresented group.
To be eligible for best picture, a film must meet at least two standards across four categories: Onscreen Representation, Themes and Narratives, Creative Leadership and Project Team, Industry Access and Opportunities and Audience Development. Within each category are a variety of criteria
In response to this blatant violation of artistic freedom, actress Kirstie Alley (Cheers, Star Trek) said the new rules are a disgrace to artists everywhere and likened it to telling Picasso what he could and could not paint. More
The Oscars have been a joke for many years. These requirements only solidify that fact. Has there been bias in nominating and voting? Sure. Will these new requirements ensure that the best films and people are recognized? No, because its not about merit anymore; its about something else. Pretty much mirrors a lot of things in our society.
STOP WATCHING.
Really.
Nice to see another house that liberals built go to sh## at thier own mentally ill hands. You go christy, you’ll never work again but at least you can sleep at night
When awards are given for participation instead of pure excellence, the event loses its appeal.
The Oscar is now little more than a Participation trophy.
All of Hollywood gets to ride the short bus.
The Oscars and all awards shows are nothing but a chance for these idiots to bash President Trump.
Nobody cares anymore.
Award shows aren’t worth watching and nobody cares who wins. The Oscars went woke and now is hostless, this just makes it worse.
What about %conservatives and %evangelicals?
I never had any use for the phony hollywood awards. All whited sepulchers all of them. Now they have publicly declared that it is nothing buy a farce.
Kirstie, welcome to what’s been going on in the real world for decades. Hollywood is now paying the “diversity tax” that had been forced on employers for a long time...
Really, who cares what Hollywierd does? They give awards for that garbage? Dont expect me to get upset about WNBA rule changes either.
I turned it off during the pregame when BLM Support came up during the broadcast.Never more will I watch any professional sports.
Back about 15 years or so, “The Passion of the Christ” by Mel Gibson was nominated for only 1 or 2 awards, and received nothing.
Ever since then the biases in Hollywood and the Entertainment world have worsened. That is why fewer and fewer people go to the movies these days. It has even invaded Disney.
This forces producers to consider of what race those who are cast in rolls are. Then, it will be hair-splitting time as the actors will need to submit their genealogy records to get a roll. And, per liberals rules, if you have one drop of a certain type of blood in your history, you’re in! Chaos to ensue!!
They should go all-in... Best Black Actor and Director... Best Asian.... Best Hispanic etc etc ....Oh, and Best Trans....
I’m glad she’s speaking out about this.
