Did some glider soaring out of Minden in the late 80's. The mountain wave conditions that are occasionally experienced there are amazing. We released from the tow plane at 10,500 and rode the wave to 25K climbing over 2000' per minute many times. I remember seeing commercial jets on approach to Reno Int'l airport way below our altitude.
