Using the "functional definition" of "religion," the atheist author, James Lindsay, argues that Critical Social Justice is a godless religion (analogous to godless moralistic Buddhism?) and that it then should be treated like other religions, and thus should not be taught in public schools or in the federal bureaucracy.

I don’t know many Christians who are “woke,” but I know lots of atheists/agnostics who are, including 2 of my grown children and their friends. 😢

Its a religion/cult in all but name. It has articles of faith, sin, rituals, a savior complex, a good vs evil narrative, and competes with other religions....ie it is very rare to find a Christian/Muslim/Hindu that is actually dedicated to the ‘religious’ side of their religion (Hail Marys, confession) and is an SJW and vice versa etc etc. It should be regulated as a religion and separated from the state rather than benefit from the quantum position it is in right now where it behaves as a religion but can infiltrate the state freely because it is not technically classified as such.

Eric Vogelin said pretty much the same things in his masterwork, “Science, politics, and Gnosticism”.

At one time it was required reading in college.
