The Saudi Imam lied:

That is totally Muslim revisionist history. The Jewish community of Khaybar was not peacefully led to Islam. It was attacked by Islam’s Army for not being Muslim. It’s inhabitants were killed, exiled and a few allowed to stay if subservient to the demands of Islam.
If he wants to normalize, fine. Just don’t expect Israel to foolishly let her guard down.

It is significant that this revised history is now the official Party line, in strictly controlled Saudi Arabia.
No way the Imam of the Grand Mosque decided to just throw this out on his own.
Saudis are used to turning on a dime when the Party line shifts.
