Blame the original writers of the constitution. They did some bone headed things. Yes it’s a great document but they screwed up in three ways. One didn’t say citizen on census. They put persons. Second they didn’t give a concrete American citizen for president. Instead went mushy. Third they didn’t put English as official language. And they have caused a lot of hell since.
I would add a fourth. They did not put a constitutional check on the Judiciary as a result 5 unelected persons with lifetime appointments can impose their rule on 240 million people without any recourse short of the near impossible task adding a constitutional amendment.
