Hardly conclusive, or even persuasive. There’s Just not enough unequivocal data.
Common sense though says that a mask will help protect you in crowded places with lots of traffic- where the virus may be in the air. And will help protect others if one is infected and can’t avoid going out.
Use your heads people.

Common Sense doesn’t perceive how incredibly TINY virus aerosols are. And those of us with no symptoms are NOT pumping viruses out anyways!
Common sense can be used when we dont have scientific evidence. Regarding surgical masks, it would be incredible that by 2020 it would not be known to science whether or not they helped lessen the spread or severity of viral pandemics. It seems a lot of good science regarding the Sars-cov2/Covid-19 pandemic is being held back from the public. The Democrats want to keep us ignorant and clutching at straws.
common sense is often wrong

I agree. Though not perfect, it must help some. A mask reduces how far the air from coughs is propelled, as anyone can confirm by coughing toward their hand at arm’s length, with and without a mouth covering, and feeling the difference (I have, and felt a noticeable gust, then not a whiff). Also, though it’s true that an individual virus particle is incredibly tiny, many will be clustered in larger droplets that can be affected by coverings.
We are under state ordered masks if you want to shop what places are open, and of course doctors. IHop is using plastic cutlery, when their industrial dishwasher gets over sterilizing hot to clean the dishes you eat on. Hard to cut a pancake with thin plastic.
