This one-dimensional, safety at all costs mentality has got to stop. If these people ran an airline, theyd keep the aircraft in the hangar and not fly until we can ensure that no passenger will die.
>> “...with and without a mouth covering, and feeling the difference (I have, and felt a noticeable gust, then not a whiff)”<<
I said that backwards. First I coughed without a mouth covering, and felt a gust on my hand extended at arm’s length. Then I coughed with a mouth covering, and didn’t feel a whiff.
Funny how these appeals to “common sense” are completely unconcerned about how many people infect themselves by fiddling with the mask after it served as a virus catcher.
Common sense rejects that proven statistical analysis that says there’s better than a 50:50 chance a classroom with 25 students that two will have the same birthday.
masks are not useful in corona virus and may be harmful. Facts are facts no matter what names you call if. I would submit those wearing masks that are not proven to be of benefit when they are not ill are the dogmatic and stupid ones (your words not mine) but what do I know
Face condoms
Got your point.
Yeah, I was at a farmers market the other day- unmasked of course- and the fellow next to me had a few coughs.
I thanked him for wearing that surgical mask.
Doesn’t matter how much virus you are exposed to, one strand can multiply and cause you disease.
I'm going to take my chances without a mask. It's not like we're hanging around severely infected people anyways.
You want to argue that masks are never useful?
I dont think so, but go ahead and say it if you do.
Say it if you wish, you don’t need to back it up.
Are you even trying to make sense?
Of more interest... how do you have such a FR name from ‘98?
Are you some time traveler?
Seems virus load would matter...but how much that’s effected by a mask is the question...
>> “Doesnt matter how much virus you are exposed to, one strand can multiply and cause you disease. “ <<
Well, masks could affect the distance those strands are propelled. Besides, I’ve yet to see any good information on it, but doesn’t the body have some ability to resist small quantities of a virus, or is there proof that a single particle or strand will multiple and do its worst (be just as bad as contact with many strands)?
Your right!.
Haven’t seen a lone women in car driving in a mask. It’s all been men.
But around here they are the 50+ crowd.
Just Gross.
To prevent corona virus? Yes. masks are not useful. One can get the same benefit by covering their cough or sneeze without the downside of wearing a dirty rag on your face all day.
Having trouble focusing? Try to concentrate on substance.
The problem with this article, and all the posts following yours, is they all assume that this virus will kill everyone who gets it. We know that unless you have 1 foot in the grave already, this virus is minor. Most dont even show symptoms, or signs. Why dont we discuss the benefits of wearing a helmet every day in your life in case you bump your head?
My mistake, was trying too hard to keep it light.
And blundered.
>> “Funny how these appeals to common sense are completely unconcerned about how many people infect themselves by fiddling with the mask after it served as a virus catcher.” <<
Common sense tells us that most of the incoming droplets that stick to the mask would have landed on the face itself without the mask. Outgoing droplets would have been propelled farther out and possibly infected others.
Also how we handle a mask is something we can control. Even if we do that badly, though, we’re probably depositing only a small fraction of what would have gotten on us otherwise.
(I’m guessing that most persons immediately upon touching their mask to remove it won’t wipe their hands on their tongue. If I can, I wash my hands immediately, or at least try to avoid touching my face until I can.)
No. Go on.
Is a mask of no protection, ever, to the uninfected?
Just say it if you think it.
I think I’m being polite.
Fox loves masks.
