The University of Rhode Island recently announced plans to remove two murals depicting the events of World War II due to their lack of diversity. The decision was prompted after students complained that the mural was not compatible with the universitys values of inclusivity. According to the schools Vice President of Student Affairs, Some of our students have even shared with us they didnt feel comfortable sitting in that space.

You forgot lesbians. We tend to forget that 82nd & 1/2 and the 101st & 2/3 Airborne divisions that were an experiment by FDR in integrating the first women in the military. At that time, they only accepted lesbians. If you were a woman and straight, you could only be a WAC.
Pretty much just Crosses and Stars of David.
“I mean before this BLM summer of hell.”
The BLM racists objected to Mexican neighborhoods and businesses in Cicero, Illinois, and tried to burn them down on May 31. The Mexicans set up barricades, manned them with individuals carrying AKs and beat the crap out of the BLM racists. The BLM racists ran back to their ghettos and haven’t returned.
So, here’s what we know: Barricades and AKs work.
“leaving their safe space”
Seems proper that the murals with groups of soldiers should reflect the racial mixture in our WWII troops who were over there doing a very tough job.
The university officials should look at the thousands of pictures of our WWII troops that are available and pick replacements that please them and convey the same message as the originals.
I think Rush had the right idea....

Seriously. F*ck this sh*t. I’m about to World-War on their asses.
And we're talking Hiroshima and Nagasaki!
A good question to ask the current ‘wokers’. And most of today’s gender identification idiocy was still considered as showing the individual should have been in a mental institution, not the military.
I’ve noticed that too. Used to be piles of Vietnam videos on Youtube featuring footage of American troops fighting the good fight over a soundtrack of a Stones or a CCR song. Most of them had a patriotic vibe and you could spend quite a bit of time hopping from one to the next. But the other day I noticed there were fewer of these and they seemed curated to be less patriotic or, as Youtube would put it, “one sided.” The first one that popped up opened with NVA gunners downing an American fighter plane. I was disgusted but not surprised and thought to myself, Oh boy, Youtube strikes again...
They will be running the Nation one day soon.
Oh, boohoo. Whiny a$$s... please go back to your mommy’s basement where it is comfortable (as long as you’re by yourself).
Up until the Korean War the military was segregated.
Almost all combat troops were Caucasians, minorities served in support roles (which could be just as dangerous for them as front line troops). So it should not be a surprise that a WWII mural would not have too many if any minorities portrayed.
Then reality is not very strong in the snowflake generation.
You got there first. Agree.
That was hilarious.
LOL!!!!
Black soldiers were segregated before Wilson, in the old regular army they had separate “colored” regiments.
What the US did in WWI was to create similarly segregated regiments, brigades and divisions. These were committed to battle as any other unit, and indeed the 369th Regiment “Harlem Hellfighters” ultimately had more time on the front line than any other.
The situation was actually worse in WWII. They again had segregated units, but by then there was a reluctance to deploy black combat units. Only one black division (92nd) was committed to combat at all (Italy, 1945, with poor results). There were a few black tank, antitank, engineer and artillery battalions used in combat, but these were considered acceptable because they were specialists and so consisted of picked men.
Cancel college !
They need to be repainted to show Nazis of color.
The 761st Tank Battalion (negro troops) were in Pattons Third Army and took part in the relief of Bastogne, and a couple of dozen were killed in the Bulge canpaign. So you are likely to find just a few of these black soldiers in the cemetery.
Besides which there were lots of remnants and stragglers of units that collected in Bastogne when it was surrounded, and there probably were some black soldiers among them. Many of these were reorganized into ad-hoc infantry to hold the line.
And Patton himself, desperate for infantry replacements, had the Third Army “tail” combed for men to replenish his rifle companies, and he didn’t care if these happened to be black. Patton integrated Third Army, at least to a small degree.
“...You will be amazed at how stupid these young people actually are. They will exceed even your lowest expectations of them....”
Naaa...not really. They’ve already exceeded my lowest expections. They’ve been “indoctrinated” since they were 5 year olds with BS. I tried to hire a couple of em as summer helpers when I had my HVAC business. None of em....Not a one of em could last a week. Too hot and no social media time.
