Plus, we’re much more risk-averse. Children aren’t allowed to walk to school; jungle gyms have vanished from playgrounds; college students are shielded from microaggressions. We have a “safetyism mindset,” as Jonathan Haidt and Greg Lukianoff write in “The Coddling of the American Mind,” under which “many aspects of students’ lives needed to be carefully regulated by adults.”

Paranoia has permanently imbedded in the modern mind.

When I was a child I was trusted by my mother. Before I went to kindergarten I would tell my mother I was going for a walk and she would say, okay. I would walk around the block and be back at home. I was instructed not to cross the street and I understood that and did not deviate.

Today’s kids aren’t even aloud to play outside in their own yard without constant supervision.

How can children raised so, be expected to think for themselves and question nonsensical government edicts?

Parents that have believed in a pandemic of hyper activity syndrome will easily believe in a deadly pandemic of flu that can only be controlled by a hyper active government that must control every aspect of human activity.

I disagree that it’s “just the flu,” but other than that, you are absolutely correct. Most of this stuff has simply turned out to be ridiculous.
