Reneé Hall is resigning as the chief of police of the Dallas Police Department, city officials announced Tuesday.
Hall's resignation goes into effect at the end of the year. She initially said she would resign Nov. 10, but Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax asked her to stay longer.
In her letter of resignation, Hall wrote that she has received inquiries about "future career opportunities" in recent months.
"As you can imagine, for many reasons, I must keep my next career step confidential," Hall wrote in the letter, which WFAA obtained Tuesday afternoon.
Hall has been chief of the Dallas Police Department since 2017. She is the first woman to lead the department.
The Dallas Police Department won't be the only big department searching for a new leader; the Fort Worth Police Department will also be searching after Chief Ed Kraus retires at the end of the year and the Arlington Police Department is also searching for a new chief.

I saw a couple of pictures of thousands of people standing outside of government buildings, they were waiting for Section 8 vouchers. One group was in Atlanta the other was in Houston. Everybody looked the same. What happened to all those laws against discrimination in housing?
Has the mass exodus from Dallas begun yet?
Some cities would allow her to encourage larger riots, Atlanta for example, or Chicago.
