Great idea. Representatives are for the people. Senators are for the states.
Thats the way it was designed.
After the 17th was enacted, states lost representation in the Federal government.

So you are aligning yourself with the progressives of the early 20th century. Who knew that you are really a Democrat/progressive operative.

Right. And the 17th amendment is the pinnacle of that movement.
To: central_va
Fun fact: Who do you think ratified the 17th Amendment ?

The 17th Amendment, added to the Constitution in 1913, came as the outgrowth of the
Progressive Era, and occurred at its peak, the vigorous campaign for progressive reform promoted by Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson in the Presidential Election of 1912.
Teddy was a blow hard and Woodrow Satin's spawn.

You can’t win with constant posting either. Does it anger you when someone refutes your gas-lighting?

Fun fact: How many Demonrat U.S. Senators would there have been in 1937 had the 17th Amendment not been ratified ?
Hint: Enough to have supported each and every radical Socialist program and the court-packing notion of FDR.

I answer with facts, you answer with insults.
Frankly, n00b, your postings are so predictably banal, hostile and ignorant, that most people here consider you to be a troll.

Right now 30 states have Republican legislature which would translate into a veto proof majority you political and historical retard. Go to bed OLD MAN I think you need some rest.

YOU WANT FACTS? 30 state legislatures are under Republican control which would ( pre 17th ) translate into 60 Republican senators.Math is hard but not that hard.

Who are these magical Conservatives that would stand 100% with President Trump that would be elected by the state legislatures ? Name them. When you can’t even get TEXAS to elect a Conservative by the legislature, you think you’ll get Conservatives in more marginal states ?
BTW, your math skills are lacking. 30 x 2 = 60. 66/67 Senators are needed for a veto-proof majority.

Let me make it simple for you:
30 x 2 = 60

Ok 60 for cloture, which is essentially the same thing.

Say it, don’t spray it. See post #137. That you think these legislatures would ALL elect Republicans reflexively or that many - or ANY - would be Conservatives is completely ludicrous.
