I think Sweden’s expectation is that their deaths per million will continue to fall relative to other countries as more time passes. Their number recently crossed below that of the United States, for example. I doubt they’ll get as low as their nordic neighbors but they will probably close the gap somewhat. You then have to weigh the remaining gap against the positive benefits of not closing down their society and economy. You also have to factor in their mishandling of their elderly, which they have acknowledged. Those unnecessary deaths add a fixed positive offset to their deaths per capita number. Correct for that and their numbers probably look substantially better.
Be sure your family hass enough zinc to use along with their HCQ. HCQ is an ionophore which changes the electrical charge on zinc, which enables zinc to enter the cells where Covid is reproducing and stops the virus.
I just heard the news and heard the tape recoedings of Trump’s Woodward book interviews. Pretty shocking that he knew it was far more deadly than a serious flu case.
As I indicated in Comment #35, Milan has a high number of Chinese fashion industry workers who came back from the holidays. Italy made a point of not identifying ethnicities of the sick for fear of rousing racist sentiments, the kind of thing they joined Hitler in doing in WW2. I do believe it wass reported they had the more virulent strain.
I grew up in northern NJ and visited my parents who continued to live there until they died 20 years ago. Many people in NJ work in NYC and travel back and forth every day in very crowded subways, buses, and ferry boats. After 9/11 a number of downtown NY busineses moved over to NJ, so the traffic both ways is probably large and more balanced now.
I wonder if Trump shared with Cuomo and Murphy the information he shared with Woodward that we are hearing today. For that matter I wonder if he shared it with Cristie, former R Governor of NJ. There are going to be a lot of people speaking out about this in the coming days. Some will be very angry. I wonder how the flubros will feel about this. I am just glad that at age 81 I was always very careful with masking, distancing, and washing.
All of what you say is true. Bottom line for me is that the virus had spread to the 4 NE states by the beginning of the lockdown. It was already too late to stop it. I think they all knew it but didn’t know what else to do. These guys, Cuomo and Murphy, had to do something, so they closed everything up.
It would have taken a lot of courage to keep things open and weather the rapid rise of deaths. Plus they wouldn’t have had the daily press exposure with the obligatory sign language showing they care.
Now that the storm has passed, they are letting go grudgingly.
Fauci was on the national pandemic task force from at least January, before we even knew there was a task force.( though in fact WHO did not declare this disease to be a pandemic until March)
Fauci had every access to the same info as the President, who trusted him then. Fauci in fact had direct contacts with WHO and China based on his past work.
Fauci had every access to the public through MEdia and in facf gave numerous interviews at numerous appearances. In fact if you go back and watch them, Fauci downplayed the threat of this virus to America through at least March 9 when he encouraged people to go ahead and take those cruises!

The NE states dealing with heavy infection then were also dealing with severe shortage of medical supplies. They even were facing the kind of triage that Italy was doing. That is letting people die untreated to help those with a better chance of surviving. The supply system is a lot better now, allowing cautious opening. It has also allowed people to take steps to improve their nutrition, health, and immune systems, reducing vulnerability.
We should still mask, distance and wash. People at FR thought that there would be big increases in cases in weeks after all the demonstrations. I watched a lot of TV news about demonstrations in Washington, DC. A lot of people were wearing masks. If you go to worldometers for Covid in the US and click “Projections to the far right of the DC line you can find the graph that shows only a slight increase in cases in the weeks following various demonstrations there.
People need to come to terms with the fact that over 200 million Americans ( at minimum) will eventually show exposure to this virus ...some will get sick enough to show symptoms ( about 50%), then perhaps 20% will need some level of hospital care. This will be spread out under a flattened curve.
The oldest and unhealthiest of that 20%, perhaps half, will need intensive care and yet some will die. Less than 1% of the population.
Improved treatments esp early treatments will do far more to stop the disease than masks or lockdowns of the healthy
The link below of a letter by Dr. Vladimir Zelenko with cc to President Trump and Mark Meadow tells a more optomistic story. By March he had treated 500 people with early Covid symptoms and mostly in older and risk categories. He reported NO deaths, NO hospitalizations, and NO intubaations. Even if only 1/2 the people treated with early symptoms actually had Covid, that is 250 unhospitalized people. In a later report he had treated over 900 people with 1 death and several hospitalizations.
