To: Lonesome in Massachussets

One thing we’ve learned from big oil spills is that they self-clean much faster than the environmentalists claim. Oil-eating bacteria and wave action, especially in a warm place like Venezuela.

I was thinking the same thing. After Unternehmung Pfaffenschlag in 1942, the U.S. east coast was covered in oil from Maine to Florida, but by wars end it had all magically disappeared.
