I literally just bought a can of Pam to lubricate hedge trimmers.
From first hand experience, I’ve noticed the top speed of a Michigan black bear to be better than 20 mph when they suddenly hear the ball detent click as the hammer of a .357 revolver as it’s fully pulled back...
But it does sound like a dog update should be in order!
Starting fluid (ether) and a lighter is pretty spectacular. I saw someone do that and it created a huge fireball.
Wow, never heard that before. Did you make that up?
Your post made me think if a can of WD-40 and a lighter would be a better deterrent than pepper spray.
Going out in the wilderness in an area like that without a firearm is asking for trouble.
"Have you kept a journal? You should. It might make a good book. Even if it doesn't, we would love to read it."
They fall down when you fire a few rounds into their heads and hearts.
I would never fire a few rounds over any one or any thing's head.
That is a total waste of ammunition and you are just increasing the danger for you.
If you think you are not in danger why shoot at all?
Well, there was one witness but he's not talking.😎
Canada let’s you have a handgun?
Not all CT black bears are peaceful. My brother had one in his shrub bed right outside his front door. The bear charged at the door when my brother’s wife banged pans together and yelled at it. The bear didn’t back off after my brother shot a round in the dirt a foot away from the bear. It only backed off after my brother fired 3 more times. That bear was aggressive.
There is no substitute for a .454 Casul in Alaska.
Some confusion is created by the use of the term "brown" which can refer to the bear's color or its specie. By specie, all grizzly bear are a type of brown bear. In North America, there are three species of bear: black bear, brown bear, and polar bear.
Concerning color, black bear have a huge range of color variations including black, all shades of brown, shades of red and in some rare cases, even non-albino white (the Kermode bear of B.C.) and silver-blue (the glacier bear of B.C. and Alaska). Grizzlies have color variation as well just not as wide as the black bear.
No, it’s an oldy.
I was around when they developed OOO. Did I miss an ammunition promotion for OOOO ?
Pam has so many uses. It’s pretty much WD-40 with flavor added.
The bear apparently prefers his dinner meat hot & spicy.
“...and he hadnt brought his SW 629 chambered in 44mag.”
...in his convenient chest holster.
A Pack of male American bulldogs ....Scott or a Johnson dogs woulda helped .....maybe
If you are going off a mile into active big bear country unheeled
Bear attack ....bad death.
Glorious Death maybe per Jack London or Comac McCarthy sensibilities.....
