Circa 1989 in Huntington, West Virginia I lived in a very middle class neighborhood. Close to me was a section 8 house. One day a very sweet and young girl of about 12 years old knocked on my door. She was from next door. I did not know her. She had food stamp vouchers she wanted to sell for cash. She was most certainly doing this by instructions of her parents. Of course I said no. I felt horrible but knew what the hell was going on.

A few weeks later that place caught on fire and most fortunately no one was hurt. The doors were open to the partially burnt out shell of the house. I went in and was appalled not by the damage of the fire. What was appalling was the condition of the house, home, cloths etc. that had not burned. I always wonder what became of that little innocent pretty little girl.
