(CNN)For years, Fox News has worked to undermine and discredit the work of other news organizations that have reported damning details about President Trump and his administration. But on Friday, something unusual happened: The network turned a skeptical eye toward reporting from its own correspondent. After spending much of the day bashing The Atlantic for Jeffrey Goldberg's jarring report which said Trump had disparaged military members who died in service to the country, Fox News itself confirmed key aspects of it. In a lengthy Twitter thread, correspondent Jennifer Griffin said she had confirmed Trump disparaged veterans; didn't want to honor the dead at the Aisne-Marne Cemetery; and did not want to lower flags after the death of John McCain. An actual news organization would aggressively tout that it had matched much of the reporting at the center of the biggest news story of the day especially given that Fox rarely delivers on original reporting of its own. And it would have mattered because Fox viewers are so often shielded from the truth. But Fox didn't proudly hold up Griffin's reporting. Instead, it acted as if it were ashamed....

But it was A-OK for Fox to fire Trish Regan
This is CNN trying this angle to keep the story alive. Trump said this two days ago.
It’s ok. I have fired FOX.
With airports empty, CNN has no audience.
I like Jennifer Griffin okay, but she is not confirming anything with anonymous sources, no matter how much she believes the words of her source. There are dozens of on-record, named people, who were there, who directly contradict what the Atlantic, and Jen’s source(s) is saying.
Amen to that!
I get sick of Faux News reporters "reporting" on what was "reported" on CNN and MSNBC and The Washington Post and the rest of the Fake News Media.
Griffin has been awful the entire time Trump has been in the WH: Travel ban, Mattis tantrums, etc. She’s a hardcore Never Trumper.
They have tried everything--literally EVERYTHING--that they can possible imagine, and some of them are very creative. The creativity of Hollywood, for example, is legendary.
I'm really worried about them. I don't think psychotherapy is feasible on such a massive scale...
Including Trump-hater John Bolton. He even admitted that if this were true he would have included it in his book.
Yup. Most of Fox is unwatchable if you are into facts and the truth.
Guttfeld should also get rid of Tyrus for two reasons;
1. Last night he emphatically stated that the cops murdered Saint Floyd after Greg said it appears he died of a drug overdose, which is the truth.
2. Tyrus starred in a movie called Stand On It which is a ripoff of Smokey and the Bandit. NEVER mess with the Bandit. Also, Stand On It was a catch phrase used by Burt Reynolds in Stroker Ace. There is no creativity left in Hollywood. Just ripoffs of American classics.
“...especially given that Fox rarely delivers on original reporting of its own.”
Two things I consider as facts:
1. Fox doesn’t have an army of people creating lies that they call original reporting.
2. Fox is under attack by CNN and all the other “c” and major networks. They are so busy finding out the truth about what their opponents lie about to repair that they don’t have as much time committing their own lies near as the liars. And it’s not very original, either. This is directly out of Alinsky. Can read them like a book...short story as that’s all they’re capable of.

“...John Bolton ... even admitted that if this were true he would have included it in his book.”
Bolton said if it were true he would have written an entire chapter about it.
I thought this might have been ham handed by Trump, but it makes more sense.
The reporter claims she confirmed the accusations. She didn’t “confirm” the accusations - she wasn’t there to witness tgem, doesn’t have videotape, etc.
All she apparently did was talk to the anonymous sources. Talking to anonymous sources to confirm they are anonymous sources does not confirm the accusations themselves. For her to say it does is disingenuous.
Secondly, there are more then 10 named sources who deny the charges.
This story have effectively been debunked.
Finally - can we be told who these sources are?
We’re told they fear retribution. My guess is they are former bitter Trump officials who are already on the record disparaging Trump.
If that is true, fearing retribution does not fit into the motivation.
Secondly, following the Vindman model, I’d guess they were not first-hand witnesses to what they claimed happened.
Knowing who they are could lead verifying where they were, getting other witness to speak to what happened, and to discrediting their stories, which they want to avoid at all costs.
It’s the timing. Distract from Pelosi’s hair.
Regardless, Trump’s campaign needs to go scorched earth on Biden. No rules from now until November 3.
McCain was a traitor. Trump knows that.
“They have tried everything—literally EVERYTHING—that they can possible imagine, and some of them are very creative.”
In normal times I would have agreed with this comment.
But these are not normal times. Look for the dial to be turned to “12.” This hasn’t even started yet.
I like Tyrus, he has his own opinions and thoughts and adds a different perspective and that is good thing for us
Someone I agree with 85% does not make them 15% my enemy.
Honestly, the republican party as a whole, I am talking the organization is missing a giant opportunity to grow the tent here and invite and woo over center/center left and moderate democrats. The republican party has an opportunity to frame this as a American Patriots vs Destructive Globalists.
Just watching Foxs Media show and they are doubling down their defense of Griffen
