I don’t think this is a matter of double standards. Progressives have a single standard, but it is not a moral standard.
At the underlying level, as best I can tell, literally, progressives have no morals. Progressives have regressed from a moral standard to pure tribalism. They use the words “good” and “bad”, but mean “helps my tribe” or “hurts my tribe”. If anyone knows of a recent case in which progressives, as a group, have evaluated the goodness of anything on a basis other than “us” and “them”, you have the advantage of me. I can’t think of one.
Republicans in DC certainly appear to prefer being in the minority. That way they don’t have to work very hard. They get invited to all the right parties. They say that they tried but they just can’t get anything that they ran on done. Big phonies.
