I was in East and West Berlin in 1987-88, so I have heard many stories and experienced the Stasi and Soviet troops. Not my point. What is the purpose of harassing the Russians in Crimea? Seriously? For what purpose. This isn't "force projection," unless we have some military or diplomatic goal to exert pressure to achieve. Crimea is a done deal. Is it in America's interest to reverse it, or do a damn thing to support Ukraine?

The Pentagon has released new video of a Russian Su-27 fighter jet veering directly into the path of an American B-52 bomber in what US officials decried as an 'unsafe and unprofessional' intercept.
The B-52 was conducting 'routine operations' over the Black Sea on Friday morning when two Russian Su-27s crossed within 100ft of its nose multiple times in international airspace, the Air Force said in a statement Saturday.
In one particularly alarming clip, one of Su-27s is seen pulling up next to the B-52's left wing before swerving directly in front of its nose.

The dam looks to me as if it can be safely overtopped. Of course, at that point the ChiComms have no further flood control operating at that location, but they also do not have a massive surge of water going downstream.
I’d also guess they can open (or if really desperate, partially blow?) the locks to provide a sort of emergency spillway. Again, that increases downstream flooding, but there’s not a tremendous surge of water headed down the river.

There are major problems with the dam.During const.early part of 2000,2001 etc. the dam money was stolen from every CCP member and other govt. goons who had any access to it. Billions were stolen to the point that inferior concrete was used and the minute the dam was filled with water over 800 cracks appeared. They have only gotten worse over the years since 2012 when the final const. of the dam was finished. The dam was never anchored,it sits on the river bed,leaks and actually moves.In addition thousands of welds have failed,strong currents have created holes in the area,the dam leaks on each side and underneath as well.Also it has an overall bend to it which becomes a time bomb for it to crack wide open.
Small to medium earthquakes are a huge problem in the Yangtze region,mostly north of there but the thinking is one will eventually occur near the dam and it will break up really bad.
If it over-tops without breaking apart which is not likely it only adds to the flooding downstream which is already massive flooded over 28,000 homes as of a few weeks ago no telling how many now and threatens excellent farm land near the shores of the Yangtze.
Should the dam break totally apart it is estimated that initial currents could be as strong as 60 mph.In nautical terms this is unheard of.A four know current is horrendous offshore and it's hard to swim against a two knot current. If you have a strong current flowing for hundreds of miles carrying dead animals,dead corpses,etc. you have a huge disaster that is near impossible to contain.

After a bad guy has been tortured and killed he is barreled,a term used often by bd.supposedly the contract killer of both Seth rich and Epstein who had an Israeli name but was really an Iranian was caught and captured and turned over to the "team" in Saudi Arabia for some "enhanced" interrogation.Rumors were,accd. to bd,that after the second or third fingernail he gave up everything and later was barreled never to be seen again.

Agreeing with **datura**: you must have been napping when the USSR was a world force. What do you call Russian overflights of the US? Force projection is a necessary so everyone understands what the other guy is doing and what can be done, lacking that is surrender. And like datura don’t get me started on Fulda Gap

3 Gorges is already at maxim release - more and everything down stream will flood badly. Design limit already passed.
That dam is not anchored on bedrock. If it gets overtopped, the water rushing over the top will go straight down, wearing away the foundation.
And exactly how does barreling work, or are we left to use our imagination?
