During the mid 1990s, I posted heavily on Prodigy, especially the Whitewater BB. Seems like another lifetime ago. Prodigy cost $3.60 an hour (after the first 20 hours that were included each month) and so there was software to download the bulletin boards so that you could read and respond offline. So I had years of posts backed up to a spare hard drive that I used with my IBM PS/1 but it got destroyed in a basement flood and so those posts are lost forever. Still remember some of the names, Karen Bixman, Larry Barleen, Judith Pedgrift...
I remember going out into the street at the hotel to meet you folks coming in. Also, riding back to the hotel after the Rally with T’wit(RIP) who saved me from having to walk.
Yep! I had much of the early FR years important posts - like the one I started that exposed Alec Baldwin on the Late Show calling for murder of Republicans... Brit Hume picked it up and aired it on FNC.
Like you, that hard drive went belly up BUT I had backed it up on a CD - which somehow deteriorated; I was able to rescue perhaps 40%. Now I copy more recent archive files to thumb drives and share them to whoever is interested. Too much history gets lost. :^(
I came in to FR shortly after the days of the Whitewater BB; our 'start dates' only reflect the start of registration by JimRob.
