I was actually mostly inactive during these years, working on my Tolkien Dictionary. I guess that I should have stuck with FR.
One poster above mentioned that FReepers should get back to local chapters - in case this web site gets shut down. Certainly FR was most effective when we were active on the local and state level. The story mentions California as the most active group, but Florida was giving them a good run off! :^D

I've been around since 1998 and there was so much rich history between then and 2004/2005 that I didn't know about! I so much appreciate you putting this together and giving us all a sense of FR's rich history and its influence across the Conservative spectrum.
As for you Mr. Robinson - ya done good! I hope you're proud. To think this forum influenced Rush (I remember hearing him talking about posts on this forum) and so many others.
I never knew the Andrew Breitbart connection, that was damn' cool to read.
Weren’t you part of Vet’s Cor was back too?
LS / Freerepublic history bump.
I had some other projects going on that included some of the
Vet’s Cor leader(s). I’m not a vet and I was not involved in
that project.
Hi! flaglady47! And thanks for your attentions to Leni.
I’ve noticed the people who last the longest here are the people who stay out of fights.
Yep! I had much of the early FR years important posts - like the one I started that exposed Alec Baldwin on the Late Show calling for murder of Republicans... Brit Hume picked it up and aired it on FNC.
Like you, that hard drive went belly up BUT I had backed it up on a CD - which somehow deteriorated; I was able to rescue perhaps 40%. Now I copy more recent archive files to thumb drives and share them to whoever is interested. Too much history gets lost. :^(
I came in to FR shortly after the days of the Whitewater BB; our 'start dates' only reflect the start of registration by JimRob.
One thing that is for sure is FReepers should meet and know fellow FReepers in their AO. Imho it is important.
A small example would be if the web goes dark. I know where Leni lives and have go bags and means to get there.
Every FReeper should know a FReeper.
Meet with them and pray over a meal with them at their favorite watering hole. 8^)
Or have their phone number etc.
You know the deal with opsec and logistics.
Say hi to Qman for us.

Mr Confettiman, Yellow Rose of Texas and others sure bring back good memories of great times and friends now gone.
Confettiman’s “I was there, where were you” is the stuff of FR lore.
I’m sure glad you saved all that crazy post of yours — it was legendary.
Thanks, M. It looks like Qman will have a somewhat difficult recovery from Wednesday's lower back surgery. They said things were worse than they anticipated, one disk was almost completely gone. He needed help getting in and out of the car when I picked him up this afternoon. He is using my 'walker' (which I don't need, just have it left over from some deals some time ago.) I can't help but think that if he had known things were this bad he might have had the surgery a few years ago. He is really struggling but hopefully he will improve quickly. Of course having dad wait on him hand and foot can only be a big boost! :^D
You are right about keeping up with local groups. I talk to Matchett-PI from time to time but our FR group is feeling it's age now. I have seen some posters that I suspect live in the area and I mean to contact them but let myself get distracted. MinuteGal and gonzo were our motivators I think. sigh
Bump for later
Although here is a Aug 11, 2003 FREEP at Buckhead, GA (Barnes and Nobles)
under/over when 'bots' locate this pic ;)
Praying for a speedy recovery.

I’d like to say that’s why I’m still here, but I’ve had my
share of disagreements.
Yeah but you know where the key is hidden in the FR garage
Very nice...
Great job with this. My story is I found this place as a link on The Drudge Report while looking for information about this White House intern. Couldn’t believe some of the stories here. Like The Clinton Body Count and many more. Quickly became my home.
