The Inevitable Implosion of Biden’s Campaign
The American Spectator ^ | 9-4-2020 | David Catron

Posted on 09/05/2020 7:14:28 AM PDT by Sir Napsalot

It is doomed by a strategy based on a progressive myth about Trump’s base.

It’s tempting to attribute Joe Biden’s plummeting poll numbers in key battleground states to his dilatory denunciation of the riots that still ravage their Democrat-run cities. However, the campaign’s fatal flaw is more subtle than Biden’s tacit approval of mob violence. It is rooted in the classism that resulted in his nomination to be the Democratic standard bearer. Among the progressives who control the party it’s an article of faith that President Trump’s base consists of undereducated working-class whites. Thus, they reluctantly supported Biden’s nomination in the hope that “working class Joe” could peel off enough of Trump’s benighted blue collar support to capture the White House.

The problem with this strategy is that it is based on a myth. White voters without college degrees do indeed constitute an important part of Trump’s coalition. But the belief that these Americans are working class clods dumb enough to support a Potemkin candidate nominated by a radicalized party is a progressive fantasy.

(omitting Biden's dwindling poll numbers)

The source of this downward spiral in Biden’s numbers is the progressive myth that all voters without college degrees are by definition working class and not very bright. Ironically, this nonsense was debunked as early as 2017. Nicholas Carnes of Duke University noticed that the “working class voter” narrative had become a staple of media commentary concerning Trump’s 2016 victory over Clinton and responded with a Washington Post column titled, “It’s time to bust the myth: Most Trump voters were not working class.” Carnes was ill-mannered enough to point out that journalists writing about Trump’s blue collar base had failed to produce any data supporting what had by then become conventional wisdom...

I've said it before, Biden will beat himself. Trump can take the high road.

It might have been accurate at one time that being college educated meant one was probably more intelligent than average, but not any more. College isn’t a place where everyone studies the Greek classics in the original language and or calculus. Some study demanding things but many don’t. Who is more intelligent? A skilled machinist or an Antifa agitator who majors in Gender Studies and took remedial math and never read anything more difficult than Rules for Radicals?

Who is more intelligent? A skilled machinist or someone who spends hundreds of thousands of dollars of their family money on a college indoctrination?

I’ve seen numerous users on Twitter talking the past couple of days about Biden dropping out after being diagnosed with a medical problem. No specifics have been provided.

Unless something catastrophic happens regarding Biden's health (stroke, heart attack), at this point the Democrats need to stick with him and try to drag him across the finish line. If Biden suddenly stepped down now, all out war would erupt within the party. Bernie's supporters would argue that he should get the nomination, since he won more primaries than anyone but Biden, and has the second highest delegate count. Kamala Harris' supporters will claim that, as the VP candidate, she should be elevated to the top spot on the ticket. Hillary, seeing one last chance at the presidency, may go for broke and jump into the fray.

... on a college indoctrination?
___________________________________

And there is the real truth.

When the progs tout *college-educated* and lament *uneducated*, they mean *inculcated* versus *less-inculcated* (only *less* because the inculcation is ubiquitous). It has nothing to do with intelligence, except for the conflation of *degree* equals *intellect*. Just as *critical thinking* means *critical theory*.

This is why the propaganda is so prevalent in media and entertainment. And just in case someone slips through the net of indoctrination by isolating from the culture, there is the data-collection net and the burgeoning Social Credit system to make sure no one escapes. Those of us who are isolated have done some of the tyrants’ work for them by being out of the influence system and most have at least some family who are indoctrinated and therefore can be leveraged.

I have said a dozen times on this forum that in my opinion, “deplorables” was a linchpin moment for the HRC campaign. In that moment their most staunch supporters, that is Suburban white women, whom they the Dems still believe are their staunchest supporters, were Shown that they were disposable, just like anybody else. Because in that moment those Suburban women looked at Hillary and thought about their husbands, and they thought “yeah okay his belly hangs a little bit over his belt, I have to nag him to take out the garbage, but he has provided for me and our kids and kept us in our little house for 15 years. And here is Hillary, My Hero, ready to throw me under the bus like any other group she’s already thrown under the bus.”

Boof. Decision made. Then and there.

I'm an uneducated licensed building contractor (over 40yrs).

The other day my engineering student grandson asked me if I've ever done calculus? I told him probably many times, I just didn't know what it was called.

Biden exposed for plagarizing (lawschool) and appropriating thoughts, vision of other statesmen (Kennedy, etc.) and quoting them without attribution.

But Joe does say his own words here: "I've done some dumb things, and I'll do some dumb things again."

It is being resurrected by the Slanderous Atlantic Magazine Story as we speak.

Joementia was hand fed a “question” about POTUS Trump’s “reported” remarks about our Military Dead yesterday and ran with it like it was a Fact.

As soon as the light hit that Elitist Cockroach Nancy Pelosi, they pull this crap out of their Asses and they will push it until half the Country thinks it is true.

The deceivers are themselves deceived.

This is a true statement, but I would go even further. The deceivers are in a bubble of their own making thanks to journalism, academia, and largely residing in deep blue urban centers.

The left does not understand the majority of America or Americans. They ascribe positions on us that match their own narrative - not ours.

This is why they have made so many tactical mistakes in the era of Trump. They believed resistance and obstruction would cause people to support them. They believed riots and fanning the flames of racial tension would help them. They believed (and still do) that shut-downs and draconian mandates for the Chinavirus will help them. They believed chaos and misery would cause Americans to elect Biden.

They chose poorly because they do not understand the nation they seek to control.

I’m beginning to sense increased support for Trump building from a base forming across party lines. I view politics as basically a tug of war between those who want more freedom and those wanting more safety. The riots have opened many eyes, and I think the distance between these factions is closing. Biden and Harris, in addition to their other negatives, are very weak on issues of personal freedom and public safety.

Biden will beat himself. Trump can take the high road.

This is generally true, but it is not really even Biden as the candidate. It is the ideas behind Biden that will lose as even his own supporters recognize he is more of a puppet.

Trump needs to hammer his ideas and record and let his surrogates and others attack Biden the person. Trump’s message is one of optimism and inclusion and as we saw with the RNC convention it is a stark contrast to the message from the DNC.

Early voting has begun.

The ads attacking Biden as a senile crank who could accidentally start nuclear war need to start airing soon.

In 2016 candidate Trump was risky.

Now President Trump has been there for four years, and a senile Biden is the risky choice.

That is the message that will hit home with swing voters.
