The publisher of this toxic horseshit is not a philanthropist, but a misanthrope.
related to the late Steve Jobs?
Widow and heir.
James Fallows—a very literate guy, but, as you say, an old Jimmy Carter hand, which tells you everything you need to know about his judgment.
my theory is, if he writes about anything other than politics, its worth a look
yes. when he writes about things OTHER than politics, I think he’s worth a look
we have not purchased an Atlantic magazine in so many years I cant remember
but they have it at the grocery mag rack so we paw thru it there
(strangely, Time, Newsweek, USNews, Look, Life, SatEvPost and so many more traditional and higher-circulation mags have not shown up at the mag rack in years (and they have some 200 different covers, it is a big mag rack) ...
I used to like Fallows. He did contribute a lot by publicizing and supporting the work of fighter ace and engineer Col. John Boyd and the “fighter mafia.” Boyd, over the strong objection of the Air Force acquisition czars was pushing for highly maneuverable aircraft that resulted in the F15, F16 and F18. His folks were also largely responsible for another USAF hated aircraft, the A10, which they are determined to rid themselves of.
Campaign finance violation? I just wish there were aggressive Republican District Attorneys willing to pursue it.
Steve was not political. Mrs. Steve is.
interesting, thanks.
I often find Fallows’ articles interesting (and very well written, incidentally). except when he slips into his political PJ’s
Wikipedia: Jeffrey Goldberg has conducted five major interviews with President Barack Obama since 2008...
Peter Baker, the White House correspondent for The New York Times, recommended Goldberg’s interviews with President Obama...
In 2002, Goldberg’s “The Great Terror” published in The New Yorker argued that the threat posed to America by Saddam Hussein was significant, discussing the possible connection between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda as well as the Iraqi nuclear program, averring that there was “some debate among arms-control experts about exactly when Saddam will have nuclear capabilities. But there is no disagreement that Iraq, if unchecked, will have them soon ... There is little doubt what Saddam might do with an atomic bomb or with his stocks of biological and chemical weapons.”
In a late 2002 debate in Slate on the question “Should the U.S. invade Iraq?”, Goldberg argued in favor of an invasion on a moral basis, writing, “So: Saddam Hussein is uniquely evil, the only ruler in power todayand the first one since Hitlerto commit chemical genocide. Is that enough of a reason to remove him from power? I would say yes, if ‘never again’ is in fact actually to mean ‘never again.’”
Glenn Greenwald called Goldberg “one of the leading media cheerleaders for the attack on Iraq”, claiming Goldberg had “compiled a record of humiliating falsehood-dissemination in the run-up to the war that rivaled Judy Miller’s both in terms of recklessness and destructive impact.” In 2008, in an article in Slate entitled “How Did I Get Iraq Wrong?”, Goldberg explained the reasons behind his initial support of the Iraq War and wrote that he “didn’t realize how incompetent the Bush administration could be.”...

TIM RUSSERT: There’s an article in The New Yorker magazine by Jeffrey Goldberg which connects Iraq and Saddam Hussein with Al Qaeda. What can you tell me about it?
VICE PRES. CHENEY: I’ve read the article. It’s a devastating article, I thought.

Keep this in mind: on a scale from 1 to 10 in terms of credibility among journalists, @JeffreyGoldberg is a solid 10. No one is more credible.

Goldberg is a propagandist for the military industrial complex. Didn’t we all learn that years ago?

it is both frustrating and dangerous that we are fed so much propaganda and can get so little straight news

Is this woman Steve Jobs widow?
If a “source” is unnamed or anonymous, the source is the “journalist’s” fantasy world.
The failed Atlantic puts a failed, but retained flunky on *assignment*....and, expects it to fly?
As if it’s not OBVIOUS what they’re trying to do?
Geez.
What idiot these hacks are.
