I doubt it was Fauci alone since almost nobody expects a vaccine before next year. Probably a fair amount of profit-taking involved.

I suspect by November 1st there will be significant news regarding the efficacy of many of these. They won’t be greenlighted for general use but I wouldn’t be surprised if one gets emergency use application.
