TEXAS flag.

The FIRST Mississippi flag was INTERESTING in that it’s two sides were completely different.
The branch of our family in Marshall County, MS still has one of the PRE-TWBTS flags.
(It is about 3.5x6 feet, hand-painted & made from the silk underskirt of a wedding gown.)
I was told by a cousin, a couple of years ago, that when Great Aunt Eloise (She is in her 90s.) passes away that the flag will be displayed at the MS State Museum. - Very few such flags are extant in 2020.
(It is believed that there are no more than 5 such flags, left, as all of the originals were hand-sewn & hand-painted.)

its nice....good job Mississippi...if you had to do it, you did it right....
The Czech flag also has some similarity (but no star and diagonal line separating the blue from the white and red rather than a straight line).
The Texas flag is just a Polish flag with a star and a blue field on the left side.
I doubt that Chile or the Czech Republic plagiarized the Texas flag, any more than Poland plagiarized the flag of the CADDO REPULBLIC (1823-1840) of northeast Texas.
(In case you have not noticed, when the Caddo Republic joined with the Republic of the Rio Grande & the Republic of Texas, the white/red horizontal bars of the Caddo Republic flag was made into about 2/3 of the NEW/UNIFIED Republic of Texas flag. - The Republic of the Rio Grande’s suggestion to change the WHITE 5-pointed star to a BLACK 6-pointed star, bordered with white, “was not liked” by the flag committee.)
According to the surviving records of the Caddo Republic (in the museum in Karnack) & the memoirs/private letters of HARRIET AMES POTTER (the widow of ROBERT S. PARKER, who was the last Caddo Republic’s President),
1. The WHITE bar stands for the PURITY of “-— our CAUSE of FREEDOM” & also that the Republic was settled by numerous Anglo-Saxon/Celtic citizens from the USA
AND
2. The RED bar “remembers” that the Republic’s citizens were about HALF “civilized” Amer-Indians & also “memorializes” the “martyrs lost in our long & bloody war against the savage Comanches”.
NOTE: When the NEW flag of the RoT was adopted, the RED, WHITE & BLUE colors of the “consolidated”/current TEXAS flag were said “by the spokesman of the flag committee” in 1840 to denote PURITY of purpose, BLOOD shed in THE TEXICAN REVOLUTION & COURAGE.
(YES, “Texican” was/IS the OFFICIAL spelling, rather than “Texan”, by a public law of The Republic of Texas Congress enacted in 1838.)

Thanks Nikki for this ridiculous state flag.
The old one was better.
SEE my post # 26 below for the “somewhat more complicated” story of the Texas flag. - POLAND did not exist as a nation in 1822-23.

The ACLU filing a lawsuit against the “In God We Trust” on the flag in 3....2....1.....
I failed to tell you in post # 26 that the flag of The Republic of the Rio Grande was the RED/WHITE/GREEN “Mexican Tricolor” with TWO BLACK 6-pointed STARS centered on the WHITE 1/3, replacing the Mexican Eagle. = SORRY.
(The 2 black stars represent Texas & Coahuila.)

+1
The only part I like .....In God We Trust.....
.....they should have just put that on the flag and nothing else
100% correct. - Further, the “OLD” flag of Mississippi was APPROVED by a SOLID MAJORITY of the voters in EVERY single MS County in a statewide referendum.
PLEASE tell me WHY the opinions of the MISSISSIPPI CITIZENS, in a lawful election, should have been FORCED to be changed by “outsiders”.
