Darn good thing they didn’t get to Hirohito before he went on the radio. The war probably still would have dragged on. Tojo wanted to assassinate him.

I'm sure that he still had 'influence' within the IJA. I never read anything to suggest that he was involved in the attempted Putsch to prevent a surrender.
