I find it fascinating that colonial America with a population of roughly 3,000,000sbout the same as Iowa, Arkansas, Utah, Kansas, or Mississippi. Yet it produced so many political geniuses.
It’s a shame we’re being told to tear their memorials down by the likes of those demanding it.
Im thrilled the want to rename the Woodrow Wilson bridge. A dumb bridge that takes hours to cross at times. Good riddance!
This was the lead story for WMAL radio (105.9 FM) afternoon drive host Larry O’Conner this afternoon. It took up most of his 3 hours. I’m guessing that Larry’s podcast of the show will be online later tonight. Two callers, who stated they were several generation native DCers and also Black stated that the Mayor had lost their votes if she runs for re-election. One of the two, a lady, remembered before DC had home rule and has decided that the Federal government needs to revoke it and return to the old commissioner system. She said that the city was better run and the appointed commissioners were actually concerned about the people in their district wards. Larry endorsed her position for the revocation of DC home rule.

It’s long past time to disolve the city government.
When the Trump landslide replaces Pelosi with Speaker Jim Jordon next year, Congress should revoke DC Home Rule and resume their Constitutional responsibilities over its administration. The locals are currently incapable of self rule.
The local DC government serves at the pleasure of Congress. They can step in and stop it if it gets too wild.

This is a revolution in the making. Not a revolution like FDR or Reagan coming to power and upending DC on its ass. No, a revolution like Lenin’s and Trotsky’s.
Scares the ever-living crap out of me, because I was fed stories about what happened in Russia growing up. My grandfather was born in Russia, and left for here right at the tail end of the Revolution. One other brother was here, 5 siblings and his parents were left there and never got out. My Great GF was, at the time of the Revolution, about the age that I am now. He had slaved from his teen years to his late 50s to build a business, and from that business he generated money to build 14 houses that he rented out. Then came the Communists and took everything. Fast forward to 1936 - he was 73 and sick with cancer. He couldn’t work, there was no investment income at all, and he and family lived in the Ukraine. To get food beyond the very barest of necessities required money - so he rented out 3/4 of the one home they allowed him to keep. Well, someone ratted him out, and the NKVD dragged him to jail and beat the crap out of him. He was released, but a few months later, in ‘37, they came again. They beat him so badly that he was released to die at home - so the phuckers murdered him.
In darker moments while watching what’s going on, I almost believe that I’m in a Twilight Zone episode, re-living my great GF’s life. The big difference, however, is that I know what happened the last time around. I may not be able to stop the forces of History from turning this country into a Communist Hellhole, but I definitely can and will make sure that at least so far as I am concerned, it won’t be for free - not this time.
