I agree, in the end he did it to himself. I suspect there’s been a lot more interaction between the two that we don’t know about, with the former friend egging it on. And once he had it in writing, the former friend said ‘a-HAH!! Got you now, you SOB!’ Gavidia should have smelled a rat and stayed far away.
If this guy pursues it, if I was the judge I would award damages of $1 and have the last laugh.
