They scuffled with him but could not gain control, likely in fear of repercussions of “police brutality”. So they deployed their nonlethal, but ineffective tasers. By then he had rounded the vehicle and opened the door. You cannot verbally command someone who lacks fear for losing their life. So it is either shoot or slow the wanted person to leave. All the race based clamoring against police has had the desired effect, albeit slowly emerging. With scores of eligible officers retiring or quitting, and any future applicants to be few, the police concept in liberal areas won't exist. There will still be issues when criminals try this tactic in conservative venues, but it will worsen over time until Ritterhouse becomes the normal response for any and all crimes since there will be no police, courts or prisons, only shallow burial pits or trees filled with dangling skeletons.

Well, one of them wasn’t in fear of charges of “police brutality,” since he shot him 7 times from behind.
If they thought they shouldn’t be brutal, and tasers didn’t work, they could have let him go. They knew who he was. Defuse the situation and go pick him up later...when they could find sufficient backup. Next time he goes to pick up his check, or his kids.
One shot in the back was almost certainly enough to remove whatever threat he posed. Give them that. It’s the next two shots, the pause, and the four shots that followed, that raise questions in my mind.
