In 2008 Jill did her internship with The Washington Post, London Bureau for less than a year while she was doing her MSc in London. Here, she helped the newspaper primarily with reporting and researching.
For her second internship she headed to The Globe and Mail, a Canadian news media company from June to August 2009.
She landed her first job as a Reporter from September 2009 to May 2010 with the New York Daily News.
On June 2010, she joined DNAinfo, a digital newspaper headlining neighborhood news around Chicago and New York City. The newspaper was shut down in November 2017, but Jill had worked here as a Reporter and Producer until April 2013.
From April 2013 to May 2014, Colvin was also a Senior Political Reporter with the New York Observer, where she primarily covered crime and local news.
From May 2014 onwards, Jill is a National Political Reporter with the Associated Press (AP). For AP, she mostly covers White House events and news briefings.
In the last few years, she has covered the current US President, Donald Trumps election campaign and the 2016 presidential race.
Later, she covered the Trump administration holding a slightly negative stance against it.
